Introduction
All projects are assigned to a Partner-in-Charge who is responsible for all aspects of the project from inception to practical completion.
Currently approximately 70% of our ongoing projects are repeat business with well established clients. The practice has worked continuously over the last 31 years for the Home Office Prison Service, for 20 years for MAFF/ DEFRA and 16 years for Amersham International/GE Healthcare.
The practice has considerable experience in design and construction related to security sensitive environments. A number of the current staff have obtained OCNS clearance and are familiar with other organisations requirements including the Prison Service and Metropolitan Police.
In order to record the process for individual projects, individual Project Execution Plans (PEPs) with stage sign offs have been developed which enable a controlled exchange of information whilst recording project programme and costs.
Having been established on a basis of heavy engineering, considerable experience has been gained on primary site infrastructure. This experience includes primary heat generation (steam, MTHW and LTHW), pipework distribution systems, standby power generation/UPS, and all aspects of electrical power, site alarm systems, and telecommunications and data networks.
More recently the practice has been heavily involved in energy conservation, renewable energy, sustainability, BREEAM and SBEM evaluation. The practice has successfully completed three BREEAM excellent buildings. These projects have enabled the practice to be fully conversant with wind turbines, solar thermal, photo voltaic, ground source heat pumps and other new renewable technologies.
The Practice has in house software to thermally model buildings in order to assess its anticipated performance. The software used for this is TAS. The practice has registered Low Carbon Consultants who are accredited to carryout the new Part L2 calculations.
The Practice endeavours to employ and retain competent engineering staff and over 50% of our current staff have 10 years or more continuous service with the practice. In addition, where staff has the appropriate engineering and managerial qualities, we actively encourage promotion from within. Currently two of the existing partners have progressed to their current position within the practice on their merit.
The company has current certification for ISO 9001:2008, Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2004, Environmental Management System and is a member of Citation plc for all our Health and Safety advice.
