The new Sports centre featured a multi-function sports hall, gym, dance studio, boxing ring and changing rooms. These amenities are also available for public use.

The new Hospitality & Catering Academy was officially opened in October 2013 by Michelin star chef Tom Kerridge, the new facility accommodates professional training kitchens and a working restaurant called Zest.

Existing classrooms were remodelled to create a new Learning Resource Centre (LRC) and a new reception area.

TPES were engaged by the M&E Contractor to develop the Stage ‘D’ performance design into a detailed MEP service. The services included new site infrastructure, gas air source heat pump systems serving AC units and hydro boxes feeding LTHW underfloor heating manifolds, mechanical and natural ventilation, kitchen ventilation, public health services, LV distribution, small power, general & emergency lighting, fire detection, voice & data, security systems and HVAC controls & energy monitoring.

TPES’ duties including developing a 3D thermal model using TAS simulation software, over heating assessment in accordance with BB101 for the naturally ventilated classrooms and the new break-out space called the “Street” and preparation of daylight analysis calculations.

A high percentage of glazing was provided around the new entrance foyer and reception area and along the Street to maximise natural daylight into internal spaces. Solar gain is controlled by mixed brise soleil.
